            Patricia Raye

            Patricia Raye's vision of Luscious Moov: NuJazz Soul Sessions has been synthesized from her singing  background in musical theater, R&B, soul gospel, and jazz. The project has captivated the talent and creativity of some of Vancouver's most sought after musicians. The core group consists of Patricia Raye - Vocals, Nick Apivor- Vibes & Percussion, Dino Dinicolo - Bass, Elliot Polsky- Drums. With the addition of Malcolm Aiken - Trumpet, Dominic Conway - Saxophone, and Mark Hoeppner - Keyboards, the band becomes a dynamic seven-piece collective.


            Nick Apivor

            Directing the sonic landscape is Nick Apivor. Nick is a multi-instrumentalist: a masterful vibraphonist, percussionist, and keyboardist. After receiving his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Victoria Nick furthered his studies at Simon Fraser University,  P.A.S.I.C, and Vancouver Community College. He deepened his studies of  Afro-Cuban percussion with Sal Ferreras, South Indian classical percussion with Trichy Sankaran, Frame drumming with Glen Velez, and African Drumming with Modesto Amagago.  He has been a Juno award nominee with Rumba Calzada for "World Music Album of the Year" and has  also been nominated  with Ache Brasil for "Best Live Act" at the West Coast Music Awards.
            As festival journeyman Nick's appearances are national and  international. They include: Vancouver 2010 Olympics Cultural Olympiad, Miri International Jazz Festival- Malaysia (2008/2009/2011) ;Vancouver International Jazz Festivals (1994-2010); Vancouver Folk Festival; Harmony Arts Festival (2005-2009); Harrison Festival of the Arts; Pacific National Exhibition (P.N.E.); Mission Folk Festival; Toronto



            Elliot Polsky

            Multi-percussionist Elliot Polsky has worked with a veritable who's who in Canada's vast and talented musical landscape. Elliot plays, records, lives and breathes drums and percussion. Able to create musically fascinating and evocative textures, Elliot's eclectic approach provides Artists he plays with the best of 'all worlds': exploring vast, interesting and varied musical possibilities; crossing cultural boundaries and pushing the rhythmic envelope. His idiosyncratic approach can be heard in his work with various artists including: Pacifika  "SuperMagique" 2010, "Asuncion" 2008; Leela Gilday  "Calling All Warriors" 2010; Valley of Wolves "Valley of Wolves" 2010; Brian Shiva Haley  "grokkin' the river" 2010; Jim Byrnes "House of Refuge" 2006, "Fresh Horses" 2004; Zubot and Dawson "Chicken Scratch" 2002, "Tractor Parts" 2000, and "Strang" 1998; Steve Dawson"We Belong to the Gold Coast" 2005, "Bug Parade" 2001; Mariam Matossian "In the Light" 2007, "Far from Home" 2004; Babe Gurr "Chocolate Lilly" 2008, "Back Alley Porch" 2005.   Elliot has received Juno awards and nominations for his work with Jim Byrnes and Zubot and Dawson; Western Canadian Music Awards for his work with Leela Gilday, Jim Byrnes, Zubot and Dawson, and Mariam Matossian; An Aboriginal Music Award as part of Leela Gilday's recent "Calling All Warriors" album.


            Dino Dinicolo

            Dino DiNicolo is a rhythmic master of the electric bass. He uses both his hands voice to create deep grooves that move the mind, the body and the soul. Musically, Dino has captivated listeners around the world. His career has taken him to the countries of Hawaii, Japan, Grand Cayman and New Zealand and across the continents of Europe and North America. He grooves comfortably in many styles of music and has been a contributor to a variety of projects. As a performer, session player and composer, he has worked with – EMI Publishing Canada., Ben Kaplan, Chris Potter, John Parr, Uno Mas, Supertonic, Melanie Dekker, Riley and the Rise, Vancouver's own The Town Pants, Sherry St. Germain and many more.
            His two solo CD releases 'Beautiful' and 'New Day Baby' have been great independent successes and have fuelled the fire for the work on his upcoming third solo CD release.
