Patricia Raye and Nick Apivor launched the project Luscious Moov, on February 29, 2008 at the Snap Gallery in Vancouver.They set out the create music that bridged the boundaries of jazz, soul, and house music.
"...a room full of people feeling sexy and loved..." is the inspiration for Luscious Moov's performances. That being said, the band has two personas. Luscious Moov's jazz persona is embodied in its NuJazz Lounge Sessions. The Sessions are an intimate musical exploration of standards that span from Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, Carlos Jobim with the added twist of new school grooves.
As a party band Luscious Moov has performed high energy shows at such venues as Ginger 62, Davie Street Pride Opening Party 2009 & 2010, Whistler's Telus Ski & Snowboard Festival, 560 Nightclub, the Starlite Casino.
